Leipzig

Leipzig is one of the two largest cities (along with Dresden) in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. Leipzig is situated about 200 km south of Berlin at the confluence of the Weisse Elster, Pleisse and Parthe rivers at the southerly end of the North German Plain. Leipzig has always been a trade city, situated during the time of the Holy Roman Empire at the intersection of the Via Regia and Via Imperii, two important trade routes. At one time, Leipzig was one of the major European centres of learning and culture in fields such as music and publishing.[2] After World War II, Leipzig became a major urban centre within the Communist German Democratic Republic but its cultural and economic importance declined. In 2010, Leipzig was ranked 68th in the world as a livable city, by consulting firm Mercer in their quality of life survey. Also in 2010, Leipzig was included in the top 10 of cities to visit by the New York Times.

Breakfast at hotel & Check-out

Transfer to Frankfurt (ca 5 hour drive)
Lunch en route on own arrangements Frankfurt

Frankfurt

Frankfurt – the financial centre of the continent, the European city, the transport hub, the smallest metropolis in the world. Those who think of the city on the Main, think of the airport, the Paulskirche and Goethe, think of the Stock Exchange, the Book Fair and the skyline. There is no doubt about it; Frankfurt brings opposites together in a charming way. A city with a savoir-vivre, in whose streets multilingualism is an accepted way of life. At the same time, the flair of the global city and homely cosiness are often just a few steps apart. The self-contained and intact life of many districts of the city, such as Bornheim, Sachsenhausen, Bockenheim and Höchst, as well as the village atmosphere, for example, of Seckbach or Bergen-Enkheim show the other endearing and charming side of the city that often remains hidden from visitors.
