Ms. Tomomi Nishimoto

Tomomi Nishimoto, the current Classical Music Executive Producer of the Olympus Hall Hachioji hosted by Hachioji College Community & Culture Fureai Foundation, is a graduate of the Osaka College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Composition. Upon graduation, Nishimoto went abroad to the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in Russia and pursued further studies in opera and symphony conducting. She is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan’s Internship in Arts and Music scholarship and Idemitsu Music Award.
As a talented conductor, Nishimoto has held various appointments in her career. From 2004 to 2006, she served as the Principal Guest Conductor for the St. Petersburg Mussorgsky State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. She has also served as the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director for Russian Symphony Orchestra of the Tchaikovsky Foundation from 2004 to 2007. Most recently, she was the Principal Guest Conductor for the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra). Other accomplishment of Nishimoto’s during her time in Russia includes performance with the Moscow City Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic". All these posts are seldom granted to those of non-Russian background.
Nishimoto has been invited to numerous music festivals as well. These include: Split Summer Festival, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Prague Proms, and Vilnius Music Festival.
In 2007, Nishimoto set her foot into Europe with a successful performance at the Bruckner Orchestra Linz concert held at Brucknerhaus in Austria. Capitalizing on her newly gained notoriety in Europe, she later performed with various European ensembles. These include: Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian State Philharmonic Orchestra (George Enescu), Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and The National Symphony Orchestra of Belarus.
In addition to her orchestral activities, Nishimoto is also a renowned opera conductor. Her work includes successful collaborations with the Hungarian State Opera House, the Prague State Opera, and the Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
Since then, she has also been working as a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum, which hosts annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Most recently, she was invited to take part in Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education Program and completed her fully funded training program in public leadership in its 2012 class. Through her endeavors to serve as a leader, she has attracted attention from around the world. In 2010, she concluded her successful first tour in the United States by conducting the American Symphony Orchestra at the New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Her American debut was followed by her performance at the Westchester Philharmonic’s Regular Concert Series as the Guest Conductor through the orchestra’s invitation the following year.
This year, she already has multiple new appointments, including the position of Music Partner of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra starting September, as well as the Principal Conductor and the Artistic Director of the Illuminart Philharmony Orchestra also starting in September.

Specially organized for the series of concerts with Mo. Tomomi Nishimoto. Their first appearance was in 2011, which was at the Great Hall of Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where they received enormous applause for their enthusiastic performance of Messa da Requiem of Giuseppe Verdi. With most of the members changed from last time, and with enthusiastic members again participated, the present chorus master, Shiro Tsuji has taught them over a year to accomplish the very best performance of Verdi ever played by a Japanese choir.
