This morning enjoy a visit and guided tour of the MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS. The Museum of Fine Arts was built in 1891 near the Imperial Palace to house the extensive collections of the imperial family. With its vast array of eminent works and the largest Bruegel collection in the world, it is considered one of the most eminent museums in the world.
This evening: BEETHOVEN’S NINTH SYMPHONY in D-Minor, Opus 125. (Konzerthaus - 7:00 PM) is performed by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Academy of Song.
OPTIONAL EVENT: One of Europe’s most unique events on New Year’s Eve – the famous LE GRAND BAL in the halls of the Hofburg Palace. Celebrate the beginning of the new year in the state apartments of the glorious imperial winter residence.
Classics from the Viennese dance repertoire, including popular melodies by the Strauss clan, will add a touch of verve and esprit to the uniquely Viennese proceedings. As always the spellbinding midnight production plays out in front of a firework display, the Pummerin bell at St. Stephen’s and the traditional Blue Danube Waltz. Dinner and dancing until 3:30 AM
