15.04 pm California contingent arrives at New York's JFK International Airport on United Airlines # UA 004 where they meet the New York contingent.
18.40 pm Santa Monica Chamber Philharmonia departs from New York JFK International Airport on Austrian Airlines # OS 088 to Vienna.
Dinner and breakfast (shortly before arrival) served on board

 

 
Day 2 Thu July 14th

Venice
09.10 am Santa Monica Chamber Philharmonia arrives at the Vienna International Airport on flight # OS 088
09.40 am New York contingent departs Vienna on Austrian Airlines # OS 521 for Venice
11.00 am New York contingent arrives Venice Marco Polo International Airport
13.15 pm California contingent departs Vienna on Austrian Airlines # OS 523 for Venice
14.40 pm California contingent arrives Venice Marco Polo International Airport
  Upon each arrival at Venice Airport you will be met by your tour-guide Fritz Doppelhofer (cell phone:+43 664 6381721), who will travel with you during the whole concert tour and our local assistant from Venice Mrs. Raffaella.

Transfer by private boat to your hotel.
Check in to Hotel AMADEUS and begin your Venice Residence.
The 4-star hotel is situated near the Grand Canal and very close to the most important museums in Venice, and just a few minutes from the Jewish Ghetto, the Venice Casino, the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square.
Time to relax.

14.00 pm Meet your local guides Mrs. Arianna and Mr. Stefano at the restaurant and enjoy your half-day guided walking tour of Venice including Piazza San Marco, the 450-foot high Campanile, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doges Palace.
16.00 pm end of city tour
Evening at leisure and dinner on own arrangements.

Day 4 Sat July 16th

08.45 am Optional Islands Excursion - Please sign in with Fritz on arrival day (cost €36) This morning's sightseeing - with your private boat and private local guide Mrs. Raffaella and tour guide Fritz - will feature a boat ride from Venice to the islands of Murano and Burano in the Venetian lagoon. Murano is famous for its glass; Burano for its lace and beautifully painted homes.
13.00 pm end of excursion and return to Venice

Explore more of Venice with Fritz and see S. Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Church with Titian's "Assumption", the Accademia Museum and the Scuola Grande San Rocco with 56 large murals by Tintoretto, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum (an extraordinary modern collection), the Venetian Jewish Quarter and finally the famous Rialto Bridge. (entrances not included)

Stop en route in Padua
See the Basilica of Saint Anthony, the Scrovegni Chapel (entrance not included), with exquisite frescoes by Giotto and the University of Padua, one of the oldest in Europe. Galileo Galilei, taught here to such acclaim that no classroom could accommodate all his students and he would frequently lecture out of doors to the attendant crowds.
See the city hall (16th century), the Palazzo della Ragione (13th century), the Piazza della Erbe and the Piazza delle Fruta as well as the Neo-Classicist café Pedrocchi (19th century).
Passing Verona we travel from through the Valpollicella wine country to Lake Garda, largest of the Italian lakes. The lake shores are dotted with cypresses, olive groves, vineyards and flowering shrubs.

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore the delights of Lake Garda.
Visit Sirmione, a famous holiday and spa resort on a slender promontory on the southern shore of Lake Garda. The town runs the length of the 3.5 kilometers- (2 miles-) long peninsula and has been a popular holiday spot since Roman times.

15.00 pm Meet your local guides Mrs. Marina and Mrs Romana at Via Pallone and start your guided city tour with a drive around the old city walls where you will see the four splendid city gates. See San Zeno Church, perhaps the finest Romanesque building in Italy and Castel Vecchio, an impressive 14th-century fortress with majestic ramparts and towers and the Roman Theater. Walk across the Ponte di Pietra, a stone bridge built by the Romans and still used by the Veronese today. Explore the medieval district and see its picturesque houses, winding alleys, enchanting courtyards, renaissance palaces, and - perhaps the most famous of Verona's sights - the houses of Romeo and Juliet. Standing below Juliet's balcony, you can almost picture her appearing from her room and calling out to Romeo.

Explore Cremona, a lovely city with beautiful churches and impressive palaces richly adorned with terra cotta tiles. Cremona is best known for its legendary violin makers, Amati, Stradivarius and Guarneri, and it is where the craft of violin making continues today.
See the authentic Stradivarius violins at the Stradivarian Museum (entrance not included)
Visit the Torrazzo in the Old Town and the glorious 12-century cathedral, featuring a 301-foot bell tower.
